Around one third of St Kitts’ coastline is made up of golden sand and mica-flecked volcanic black sand which is ideal for fishing and walking. To add to the choice, there’s the island’s Atlantic side with its rougher, deeper blue waters and the Caribbean side which is calmer and more suitable for swimming.

A reef protects North Frigate Bay so it’s a good spot for snorkeling. Other fantastic beaches in St Kitts are South Friar’s Bay (Caribbean); White House Bay (Caribbean) which is great for snorkeling; Sandy Bank Bay (Atlantic) which is perfect for lazing but has no facilities; Cockleshell Bay, which is popular with locals for swimming by day and beach barbecues by night; the secluded Banana Bay; Dieppe Bay (Atlantic) is a volcanic black sand beach in the north of the island.
